James McCarty Pub

The Caledon Inn

James McCarty Pub

This old 1800’s farmhouse was used as an inn for travelers on the Sydenham trail in the 1860’s. This trail was a military link between the Dundas and Islington regions of Toronto and Sydenham near Owen Sound. The Caledon Inn was converted into its present use in 1967 by John Brown. The pub is sometimes referred to as the “McCarty Pub” – Denis McCarty owned the 250 acres between 1833 – 1859, after which his son John McCarty owned it until 1877.

There is no doubt this is an old pub. Travelers from around the world are taken back with the truly warm feeling they get when they enter, and we are certain you will be delighted as well. The James McCarty pub appears in many of the pub guides of the world, and features live music every Thursday evening. We invite you to drop by for a pint and take a peek for yourself.
